Safety Tips

Before You Meet

  • Get to know someone through several conversations before making plans to meet in person.
  • Ask questions about their community, family, and church — and expect them to ask you the same.
  • Consider involving a parent or trusted community member in early conversations.

Meeting in Person

  • Choose a public place for your first meeting — a community event, a family gathering, or another public setting.
  • Let a family member or friend know where you’re going and who you’re meeting.
  • Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, it’s alright to leave or end the conversation.

Protecting Your Personal Information

  • Avoid sharing your home address, financial information, or other personal details until you’ve built real trust.
  • Be cautious of anyone who asks for money, gifts, or financial help — this is never appropriate in courtship and should be reported immediately.

If Something Feels Wrong

Trust yourself. If a conversation or a person makes you uncomfortable, you can block them, end the conversation, and report it to us at any time. See our Contact page to reach our safety team directly.
